PROGRAM 1 - Preparation for Individuation.   Format - Seminar.  In this program, three senior Jungian analysts, Dr. John Allan, Dr. Thomas Kirsch and Dr. James Witzig, explain the development process of the psyche from conception through the mid-life transition from the Jungian Perspective.   Dr. Robin Jaqua introduces the men and begins by giving an overview of the parts of the Self which will be discussed.  Dr. Allan, a psychologist and professor from the Department of Counseling Psychology at the University of British Columbia, continues by explaining the structure of a baby’s psyche.  He uses diagrams to help clarify what happens as the ego and defense systems necessary for successful social interaction emerge in a healthy child.  He also gives examples of the problems that occur when a child’s psychological development is hindered, and ideas about how to help a child in this situation. Thomas Kirsch, M.D., Psychiatry, picks up the development process at adolescence. He explains the importance of initiation in helping a young person to separate himself from his care givers. He also explains the "Individuation Factors" operating in adolescence as a young person begins to explore his own unique identity. All three men discuss examples of initiation operating as cultural education in both primitive and modern cultures. Dr. Witzig, a licensed psychologist, uses a chart developed by Dr. C.G. Jung to explain the different parts of the psyche in detail. He concludes this program by introducing the challenges which must be met as an individual begins the "Individuation Process" during the second half of life.  Stock #401.  95 Minutes.  $50.00.

They begin with a tribute to Dr. Marie Louise von Franz, sharing some of their personal memories and impressions of her, along with their admiration of her contributions to Jungian psychology. Von Franz’s chapter on Individuation in the book Man and His Symbols serves as the jumping off point for the rest of the discussion.

Dr. Witzig describes the psychological upheaval, often referred to as the "mid-life crisis," which accompanies the transition into the evening of life.  The participants discuss the importance of confronting and resolving issues which have accumulated through the first half of life, so that a greater openness to the creative power of the unconscious can be achieved.  This new relationship with the Archetypal Unconscious facilitates the birth of a new experience of meaning and Soul/Self Wholeness.   Stock #402.  73 Minutes.  $50.00.
