THE ARCHETYPAL SYMBOLISM SERIES

PROGRAM 1 -  The Impact of Archetypal Images on Culture.      Format - Seminar.  Dr Robin Jaqua hosts Dr. Joseph Henderson and Dr. Charles Taylor, both senior Jungian analysts, along with Ami Ronnberg, the Managing Editor and Curator for The Archive for Research in Archetypal Symbolism (ARAS) in a discussion of the impact of images on culture.   Using examples from ARAS’ Encyclopedia of Archetypal Symbolism series, they present an overview of symbols and themes that are found universally in all human cultures throughout time.  To help clarify the relevance of these images, Dr. Henderson carefully defines the term "Archetype" and explains how an Archetypal image is universal, but manifested in different ways in different cultures.  The participants discuss some specific symbols and identify how they affect us on a personal, cultural and Archetypal level.  Finally, they address the way these Archetypal symbols are projected onto people and objects in the physical world evoking feelings of connectedness and wholeness, or inspiring fear and destruction.  Only by identifying these projections and reintegrating them within ourselves can we experience of our own wholeness.   Stock #301.  59 minutes.   $50.00.

PROGRAM 2 - The History of ARAS.   Format - Seminar.  Dr. Joseph Henderson, Dr. Charles Taylor, and Ami Ronnberg, three people who have been instrumental to the development of the Archive for Research in Archetypal Symbolism (ARAS), discuss its beginnings, trace its development, and describe its current and future offerings.

ARAS has grown out of the convictions of a few dedicated people who have sensed the importance of archetypal symbolism in the life experience of individuals and cultures throughout the history of humankind. The collection now has over 25,000 archetypal images that have been cataloged and cross-referenced. The participants in the film discuss the importance of this resource for promoting better understanding of archetypal symbolism and the impact that symbolic imagery has on the psyche. Archetypal symbols have a power and a life spirit energy of their own that can inspire and enlighten.  Stock #302.  95 Minutes.  $50.00.
